The Assistant or Associate Director of Admissions for International Recruitment represents the College to individuals and groups on and off campus and is centrally responsible for designing and managing the recruitment, admission, and cultivation activities for international students and students attending schools outside of the U.S.. The Assistant or Associate Director is expected to develop relationships with prospective students, high school guidance counselors, teachers, schools, and community-based organizations, and evaluates applications from students attending institutions primarily based outside of the United States.  The position is responsible for ensuring that admission policies and communications remain current and in compliance relative to international students enrolling in the U.S. The Assistant or Associate Director will partner with other staff on campus to assist in the transition of international students enrolling at Bennington.

Required qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree, a minimum of three years' related experience, and experience with or an appreciation for a liberal arts education; a valid driver’s license and passport for travel is also required. Candidates must demonstrate strong written and verbal communication abilities, organizational skills, and a capacity for self-starting. The position requires a strong technology orientation; experience with Google Apps, MS Office Suite, and social media required.  Candidates must have the ability to engage in thoughtful and high-volume email exchange, as well as the ability to learn proprietary applications and to strengthen database proficiency. The position demands substantial International travel during the academic year.
