Student Life Associate

The Student Life Associate is a member of the residential life team, responsible for supervising House Chairs and assisting with the day to day operations of a residential region.  This position has responsibility for the administrative processes aligned with the residential House Chair positions including recruitment and staff  training/development.  Additional responsibilities are dependent on the skills and expertise of the candidate and may include other aspects of residential education and programming including registration of house social events, handling facilities concerns, student issues and room changes.  The Associate may participate in student conduct meetings and deliberations to ensure that students are meeting community expectations.  The Student Life Associate also supports housing operations and may handle room condition reports, damage billing and storage.  

A BA degree required.  Experience working in residential life, higher education or related experience along with supervision and/or advising experience preferred.  Candidates must be adept at both mediation and conflict resolution and must possess excellent oral and written communication skills. Of critical importance is the ability to work with a diverse student population and the commitment to creating diverse and inclusive communities within campus housing. The position requires a strong technology orientation with experience using the Google platform and programs.  Strong work ethic, ability to handle sensitive information, work and respond to students in caring and professional manner and a commitment to social justice and inclusion are essential.   We seek a team player -- someone who is willing and nimble, able to jump in when needed, and can work collaboratively with others.

This position is temporary for a fixed term of February 2018 through June 2018. Some evening & weekend work is required.
