Faculty Position in Chemistry at Bennington College

Bennington, VT Full-time

Bennington College seeks a chemist to join its faculty, beginning July 2018. Applicants must have a PhD in chemistry or closely aligned field. Candidates must be able to teach across the chemistry curriculum and be willing to extend their teaching beyond traditional curricular boundaries; the teaching environment supports innovation by offering small class sizes and a culture that strongly encourages active student engagement. The successful applicant will pursue an original research program that involves undergraduates; area of research specialization is open, but candidates pursuing research in biochemistry, environmental chemistry or computational chemistry are especially encouraged to apply.

Faculty members at Bennington are teacher-practitioners whose professional work is in ongoing dialogue with their teaching and advising. Faculty teach five courses per year and fully engaged student advising is an expectation; because this position will contribute to Bennington’s post-baccalaureate program, one course will typically be taught  during the Summer term.
