Faculty Position in Dance at Bennington College

Bennington College invites applications for a full-time position in Dance that will begin the Fall of 2020. 

We are seeking a skilled movement based artist with an active, professional dance making and performing practice, who wishes to work as an inventive teacher and collaborative, problem-solving colleague; who values the creation of new work by the students; who will contribute to the focus on creative process in a liberal arts context; and who can help promote collaborative process and interdisciplinary initiatives College-wide. Bennington supports ongoing professional work by its faculty and its relationship to their teaching practices and encourages curricular innovation.

The successful candidate for this position will be able to support all aspects of the dance program, which offers a wide range of courses and experiences. This includes working as a team member when: attending to shared administrative tasks, designing and implementing  curricula, fostering embodied knowledge, incorporating historical/cultural contexts, overseeing rehearsals and supporting production, initiating and hosting guest artist residencies, mentoring graduate students, and advising undergraduates.

Faculty members at Bennington are teacher-practitioners whose professional work is in ongoing dialogue with their teaching and advising. Faculty teach five courses per year, and fully engaged student advising is an expectation. Additionally, the successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to developing curriculum that invites the participation of students with a broad range of interests.
