3-Year Visiting Faculty Position in Food Studies at Bennington College

Bennington College seeks to fill a full-time, three-year visiting faculty position, beginning Fall 2019, to contribute to the development and implementation of an interdisciplinary and socially-engaged curriculum in food studies. The ideal candidate will have a broad understanding of and teaching interests in the social, historical, economic, political, and environmental facets of food systems of various scales, from local to global. Because this is an inherently interdisciplinary topic we welcome candidates from a variety of related fields, including history, religion, cultural studies, politics/policy, environmental studies, and human geography, provided that their interest is directed toward food systems. This position is part of a grant-funded initiative to address the systemic causes of food insecurity in Bennington County, VT, and will involve extensive collaborations with local community organizations, health care providers, and K-12 public education partners.

Preference will be given to candidates who have a Ph.D. and previous teaching experience, including the design of new course curricula.
