Associate Registrar

Bennington College, an innovative and pioneering liberal arts institution, is seeking an energetic, motivated and detail-oriented associate registrar to oversee registration and course scheduling operations within the Dean’s Office. The associate registrar will report to –and collaborate closely with– the Registrar and Director of Enrollment Services, and will join Bennington at a particularly exciting time, with new academic information systems and new initiatives designed to provide an exceptional educational experience for our students.

The associate registrar will primarily be responsible for overseeing daily operations concerning registration, manage and facilitate room scheduling for classes and meetings, manage all grading processes, update student records, assist with research projects, and respond to requests for degree verifications. The associate registrar will also serve as the college’s primary liaison with the Office of Veterans Affairs, maintaining knowledge of changes in reporting requirements and compliance regulations to ensure accurate, compliant, and timely certification of student records. Finally, the associate registrar will support the assistant registrar when needed, and oversee office operations in the absence of the Registrar.

This position requires impeccable attention to detail, the ability to manage sensitive information with tact and discretion, a strong work ethic, and keen customer-relation skills. The ideal candidate will be a team player who is comfortable using technology to improve services for students. Candidates must possess strong computing and analytic abilities and a facility with databases and/or Microsoft Excel; experience in developing, writing, and modifying reports, as well as using Google Docs is ideal. Three or more years of relevant work experience is required; background in a registrar’s or records office –or in higher education– is preferred.
