Bennington College invites applicants for a one-year visiting faculty position in cognitive psychology and/or neuroscience for 2017-18. Candidates should be interested in teaching a broad range of students and have a PhD in hand by the time the position begins.
Candidates are asked to submit four short course descriptions for introductory and advanced courses in cognitive psychology and/or neuroscience. Courses can cover a range of topics including embodied cognition, grounded cognition, memory, sensation and perception, brain plasticity, and affect (feelings and emotions). Candidates who propose courses that integrate multiple levels of explanation including cognitive, social, and neural mechanisms are preferred. Candidates whose courses help our students understand individuals' aesthetic preferences, decision-making, or dispositions towards certain political ideologies will be carefully considered.
